The Soldiers Grove Community Development
Corporation has a two-pronged mission:
Promotion of Local Businesses
The CDC uses a revolving loan fund to issue loans to existing
and start-up Soldiers Grove businesses. Any business located
within the boundaries of the village may apply for such a loan.
The interested business owner is asked to attend a CDC meeting (held on
the last Monday of each month) and provide information about the
intended use of the loan, as well as to obtain details regarding the
loan application process. As an alternate, the CDC president may
be contacted for information. In addition to issuing loans for the
benefit of local businesses, the CDC undertakes a variety of activities
to support local businesses. The most recent project was the
funding, design, and erection of the new village sign on Highway 61.
Promotion of Tourism
The CDC believes that, in the future, the most significant
economic development in Crawford County and the whole Kickapoo Valley
will come through tourism. Therefore, the second area of CDC
activity focuses on the promotion of tourism. The CDC identifies
and selects tourism advertising opportunities, helps sponsor area
tourism organizations, and maintains the village website. The CDC
works with other tourism-focused organizations such as the
Crawford
County Tourism Council and the
Kickapoo
Valley Association to bring a fair share of area
tourism to Soldiers Grove, benefiting many of the village's businesses
and residents. |
